Meet Jaleeca

Funding and Mentor for Jaleeca

23-year-old Jaleeca’s first encounter with FFC was when she requested funding to purchase her class ring as a senior at Boone High School. After years of working with the FFC, she says this encounter was one of the biggest changing points in her life!

Over the years, FFC has provided Jaleeca with funding for bus passes, driving lessons, and her learner’s permit and driver’s license.  We also helped with textbooks, scrub uniforms, a laptop, a matching grant to purchase her first car. Additionally, we were able to assist with her cap and gown when she obtained her medical assistant certificate from Winter Park Tech. She has had amazing success in her post-secondary education so far!

LifeGuide Match

In 2014, Jaleeca was matched with a LIFEGUIDES mentor, Jessica, and they have continued to meet regularly and experience new things together ever since. With Jessica’s help, Jaleeca has built her independence and adult skills, such as interpersonal communication and professionalism.

Every day, our LIFEGUIDES mentors provide foster children with invaluable skills needed to succeed on one’s own in the future. You can help to ease the transition for foster youth aging out of care by donating here today or by signing up to become a mentor
