Incentives for Education+ Students

Rewards for Improved GPA

Our new intern, Kellie, is working today on the incentives for good GPA we send to students in our Education+ program each quarter. For students with a 2.0 or higher, they receive a gift card with an amount that depends on their GPA. Of course, we don’t want to forget about our students with a GPA below 2.0.  They also get an encouraging note with Panera “dough” donated by our partners at Panera Bread.

Foster kids usually suffer in academic programs, perhaps due to disinterest or difficulty attending school regularly. To resolve this, the FFC matches our kids with tutors and academic assistants. We also contact our kids’ schools and teachers in order to closely follow their progress and assess their shortcomings.

Providing educational incentives for children in foster care is just one aspect of our Education+ program. In order to raise kids’ interest in school and our tutoring programs, we provide these incentives.

We don’t want to use incentives in order to entice students. Rather, we use the incentives to show kids that someone cares about them and how they are doing in school! Oftentimes, all a student needs to succeed is the knowledge that someone believes in them.
