Back-To-School Backpack Drive
A new school year brings with it a renewed sense of hope, and, of course, that familiar first-day-of-school excitement. Back-to-school looked different this year, but that doesn’t change the fact that our foster youth still needed school supplies.
The Foundation for Foster Children has been dedicated to serving foster students in Orange, Seminole, and Osceola Counties for twelve years to ensure each child has the proper school supplies. With the COVID-19 pandemic causing continued effects throughout the community, the Foundation made sure to take a safe approach for our annual school drive in an effort to continue the mission.
Backpacks were filled with basic supplies that are suitable for both online and classroom learning. Parents were able to come by the office to pick up the supplies, while other supplies were distributed at local group homes by our Advocates.
Special thanks to our donors that made this opportunity possible:
- Evergreen Lifestyles Management – 60 drawstring backpacks filled with school supplies
- Felsing LLC – 75 backpacks filled with school supply packs and small plush toys
- Ernie, Angie and Addison Phillips – 10 backpacks filled with school supplies
School started on August 10th in Orange County, August 17th in Seminole County, and August 24th in Osceola County.
