Fostering FUN IN THE SUN

The Foundation for Foster Children hosted its seventh annual day at Aquatica, Sea World’s Water Park as part of its enrichment program. The kids and families look forward to this event every year! Kids can’t wait to splash in the wave pool, cruise the Roa Rapids, and slide down the slides, like the HooRoo Run!

Foster families and group homes, along with relative and non-relative placements, from Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties were all invited to Fostering Fun at Aquatica, which took place on May 13, 2017. Over 900 children and families signed up to enjoy a free day at the water park. Presented by Foundation for Foster Children enrichment program and sponsored by Aquatica! While there, they were also able to receive a delicious lunch buffet at Banana Beach Buffet, compliments of Community Based Care of Central Florida.

Many people took an opportunity simply to have a day of fun with their family. There were also a few unique plans for the day, as well. One foster family also took the opportunity to have a visitation for the children with their biological family, which made for a memorable day. Another foster family took the opportunity to reunite with former foster children. It’s been their tradition for the past few years.

Foster Mom Remarks

One foster mother, Deborah, had a lot to say about their special day…

“We had a lot of fun. Fun is not even the word for it! They didn’t want to leave! You have to understand how special you all make this. I look forward to your events and plan my life around your events! It’s almost like you all help us plan for my fun time. Not only that you guys have helped me with extra reading help, tutoring, etc.  for my kids, I look to you all for everything…from education to fun time. There is not anything you all haven’t helped me with, from all ends of the spectrum!”

And from another foster mom, Rachel: “I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for this.  It has been a long time since we have had the opportunity to do something that fun as a family.  We didn’t take pictures as we were in the water the whole time.  We had a fantastic time, and we truly appreciate it.”
