If you were not at Fostering Hope last year, you missed James’ incredible speech about his life growing up in the foster care system. FFC was able to help him with funding for a laptop, track shoes, sports goggles, college test fees, and housing fees. We are so proud of all that he has accomplished and are very excited to watch as he brings awareness to foster children and the challenges they face.

You can watch the episode here if you missed it.

From PBS Newshour:

James Turner was moved in and out of 17 foster homes before he turned five. After that, he lived with other foster families and eventually in three group homes. Nationally, only about one in five foster youth who graduate high school attend college. Fewer still go straight from high school to a four-year university. But James overcame many challenges to do just that and is now a freshman at Florida State University. He plans to use what he’s learning to eventually go back and improve the foster care system he came from in Orlando, Florida.
