This Code of Conduct and Ethics (this “Code”) is designed to promote honest, ethical and lawful conduct by all employees, volunteers, officers and directors of the Foundation for Foster Children. This Code is the preamble to the Foundation for Foster Children’s adopted policies and compliance procedures which follow.
At all times, you are expected to:
● Comply with the Organization’s mission, policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, as well as provide full, fair and accurate disclosure in all public communications;
● Avoid conflicts between personal and professional interests and disclose any conflict to the Executive Director or President and otherwise pursue the ethical handling of conflicts (whether actual or apparent) when conflicts or the appearance of conflicts are unavoidable;
● Avoid any affiliation of the Organization in connection with the promotion of partisan politics, religious matters, or positions on any issue not in conformity with the official position of the Organization;
● Act as a facilitator of community collaboration to serve the needs of foster children and remain neutral and impartial in competitions, conflicts, or controversies involving organizations or government entities;
● Protect the assets of the Organization from misuse or misappropriation;
● Keep confidential information from any person or entity outside the Organization, either during or after service with the Organization, except with written authorization of the Organization or as may be otherwise required by law or regulation. Confidential information may not be used for your own personal benefit or the benefit of persons or entities outside the Organization;
● Maintain a positive work environment;
● Provide accurate and complete information in the course of fulfilling your obligations and communicate information in a timely manner;
● Seek guidance when necessary;
● Promptly report any violations of this Code to the Executive Director or Board President.
VIOLATIONS:
Allegations of violations will be reviewed and investigated by the Organization’s Governance Committee or other appropriate entity. Failure to follow this Code, or to comply with federal, state, local and the Organization’s policies and procedures may result in, among other actions, suspension of work duties, diminution of responsibilities or demotion, and termination of employment or termination of board or volunteer service.
