As a Board member of the Foundation for Foster Children, I am fully committed and dedicated to the mission and have pledged to carry out this mission. I understand that my duties and responsibilities include the following:
1. I am fully committed to the Foundation’s mission:
To create meaningful connections for children in foster are through personalized support.
2. I will follow the Bylaws, all Policies and Procedures and Board Guidelines.
3. I am legally responsible, along with other board members, for this organization. I am responsible to know and oversee the implementation of policies and programs.
4. I am fiscally responsible, with other board members, for this organization. I will become familiar with our budget and take an active part in reviewing, approving, and monitoring the budget and fundraising to meet it.
5. I will actively engage in fundraising for this organization by using personal and business connections to help secure services and/or funds when appropriate and by supporting and attending fundraising events.
6. I will actively promote FFC, encourage and support its staff, and work in concert with the Board members with whom I serve, including recruiting other potential Board members who could make significant contributions to our organization.
Specifically, my commitment each year will include:
• A financial investment of $1,000 which can be made as a one-time donation each year, or I may pledge to give a certain amount several times during the year. I may also secure outside financial support to help meet my financial commitment, however every Board member is expected to make a personal financial investment annually.
• Attending at least 5 of the 6 Board meetings.
• Attending the annual fundraiser (or a FFC community event if unable to attend the fundraiser).
• Leveraging personal and business relationships (including corporations, professional service firms, foundations, individuals and government agencies) to assist the staff of the FFC in furthering our mission).
• Membership and active participation on at least one Board committee.
I understand that I am agreeing to make a substantial personal commitment. I will carry out these responsibilities to the best of my ability. I understand the Organization’s strength and well-being is directly related to the Board members’ level of engagement, both as individuals and as a leadership team. I will conduct a self-evaluation of the above commitments at least annually. If I am not able to meet my obligations as a board member, I will offer my resignation.
