Lorvins Eugene — Advocate

Lorvins started with the Foundation in 2017 and serves as an Education Advocate. He comes to us with over 14 years of experience working with foster youth and families in the state of Florida. In 2003, Lorvins started with Orange County Government at the Great Oaks Village Group Home where he served as a House Parent while pursuing a degree in Political Science. It was during this time that Lorvins felt a calling to work in this arena.

As an Americorps Vista member, Lorvins worked with the United Way as a Case Manager in the Home Again Division assessing the needs and identifying barriers that lead to homelessness and impede self-sustainability in families with school-aged children. The experience prepared him for various roles in the non-profit sector such as a Program Manager. In collaboration with the City of Orlando Americorps,  Lorvins managed tutors, gathered data on student progress, mentoring, and enrichment programs. By creatively carrying out deliverables with a ton of energy the results were strengthened community relationships and improved student engagement which are major keys to successful partnerships, such as, collaborations with mentoring groups, City of Orlando After School All- Stars, and Orange County Public Schools.

Being a very active member in the community has afforded Lorvins the opportunity connect with many and speak on various topics affecting children in the community. He relishes every opportunity to connect with advocates of foster children from youth, to businessman, and even to leaders in the community in pursuit of new ideas and collaborations that will shed light and create solutions for the many barriers we encounter within the population we serve.
