Jovan Figueroa — Empower Program Coordinator

Jovan joined the Foundation in August 2020 and serves as a Youth Advocate. He is originally from Chicago, IL but was raised in South Florida most of his life. Jovan holds a bachelor’s degree in Practical Theology from Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL and has worked with youth and young adults in both the Child Welfare and Religious non-profit sectors for over 10 years in both Central and South Florida.  Prior to joining the team, Jovan served as a Youth Director for churches in both the Orlando and Miami area from 2010-2014. He also served as Case Aide and Lead Child Care Professional with His House Children’s Home in Miami Gardens, FL from 2013-2014 and served as Client Records Services Associate with Our Kids of Miami-Dade/Monroe, Inc. from 2014-2016.

His most recent roles include working BCFS Health and Human Services serving as Administrative Assistant/Case Aide working with the UAC Home Study/Post Release program in Miami Springs, FL from 2016-2018 and as Bilingual Customer Support Specialist with Ligonier Ministries from 2018-2020. Jovan enjoys mentoring and helping youth and young adults and enjoys making a positive impact in the lives of young people. In his free time, he loves spending time with his family, playing basketball, watching sports, going on road trips and tracking hurricanes during hurricane season.
