Moving out on your own is an exciting rite of passage for most young adults. But, for teens leaving foster care there are no family celebrations or hand-me downs to fill that new home. More often than not, they are moving with a bag of clothes, a toothbrush and a little hope. Money is tight and there’s no dropping by Mom’s house to do laundry and grab a hot meal. So, FFC volunteers help fill that gap. For every youth leaving foster care in Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties, we are committed to celebrating this important rite of passage and providing a start on basic home supplies. For each youth, we fill a laundry basket with linens and household items and a card congratulating them on their new home.
